Today’s current debate over climate change can leave us feeling a little low. News of climate catastrophe is everywhere, and the devastation is not just environmental. Eco-anxiety is understandable when we see that our natural world is in crisis. After all, we are part of this Earth and its natural life, aren’t we?
A group of Ocean Elders including Richard Branson, Jane Goodall, Gerry Lopez, and Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, as well as three Australian Nobel Laureates have today written to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten urging them to protect the Great Australian Bight from oil drilling.
Wednesday 1 May 2019 marked a significant day in history - an environment and climate emergency was declared for the first time by a national government.
Jeremy Corbyn (the UK Labour Party Leader) addressed Parliament in a gripping proposal, expressing “we are living in a climate crisis that will spiral dangerously out of control unless we take rapid action now”.
A climate emergency has been declared in the UK, which will hopefully trigger the urgent action required to prevent catastrophic climate change. Will Australia be next?
