We’ve had awesome news in the office! Our Origami Whales interactive website is finalist in the 2009 Webby Awards – the equivalent of the Oscars for the web!

The petition site was launched almost a year ago, asking the Japanese Prime Minister to cease whaling in the Southern Ocean. Users can pimp their own origami whale and send it off with a personal message to the Prime Minister. Over 50,000 people created their origami whale and sent it swimming – an overwhelming response.

Of course, we’d like to see our Origami Whales win – not just because we think it’s an great site, but because it will deliver even greater awareness to the petition and the issue of Japan’s whaling program all the more.

Here are a few quick steps to help make this possible.

HOW TO VOTE

1. Go to the Webby Awards site at http://pv.webbyawards.com and follow the quick registration.
2. After you’re logged in, click on the section “Interactive Advertising”.
3. This will bring up a list of sub-categories. The Origami Whales are under “Rich Media: Non-Profit/Educational”. Click on that sub-category and vote for Send-a-Whale. 🙂
