In addition to your contributions, we also accept a small number of grants from private charitable foundations who share our values. Our independence is vital for us to be effective in our campaigning work, which is why we have it as a core principle that guides all our fundraising. We do not accept funding from corporations, political parties, governments, or intergovernmental organisations. We also strive to balance costs with results to achieve the greatest value for our supporters. We treat donations from our supporters responsibly and with the utmost respect, as they are used to create the greatest possible impact in our campaigns.
For donor-related enquiries, you can reach us directly through our contact page.
Our fundraising ways
To maintain our independence, we do not accept donations from governments or corporations but rely on contributions from individual supporters and a few foundation grants. People like you enable Greenpeace to investigate, campaign, document, and lobby for a sustainable balance between humans and the environment worldwide. You can sign up as a Greenpeace donor through the following fundraising channels.
Telefundraising
Fundraising via phone is the primary channel that we use to get support for our campaigns. With our telefundraisers, we use this channel to reach out to our existing donors and people we hope will consider becoming donors, to inform and update them on the progress of our campaigns.
Online
Donating online is also available. After making a successful donation through this channel, you will receive a confirmation email and a welcome pack. You will also receive regular campaign updates via email and phone calls from our supporter care staff. You have the option to donate one-time or regularly (4-weekly or monthly schedules can be arranged, based on what works best for you).
Direct Mail
While many of us chose to consume news, updates, information, entertainment and more online, there are many who prefer to receive updates from charities, including Greenpeace, in their mailboxes, and they chose to donate in this way. If this sounds like you, feel free to get in touch with our Supporter Relationships team so we can add you to our mailing list. Don’t worry! All our printed materials are printed and produced in the most eco-friendly way possible – using 100% recycled post consumer waste and carbon neutral printers. Plus, once you’re done with the newsletters, you can help spread the word by passing it on to a friend or neighbour to read too.
Gifts in Wills
Some of our supporters have taken their commitment to a green and peaceful future to the next step – by leaving a gift to Greenpeace in their Will. This is an incredibly generous and impactful way to leave a legacy. Did you know that one in ten campaigns are funded by supporters who have left a gift to us in their Will? How we use your donation
In Australia, we have over 65,000 financial donors from all walks of life who support our work. Because of them, we are able to campaign for a greener future by investigating, documenting and lobbying for the protection of our climate, forests, and oceans, as well as protecting the democratic space we operate in.
Our investigations expose environmental crimes and the people, companies and governments that need to be held responsible. We bring together diverse perspectives, communities and individuals. Working together, we stop the destruction of the environment using peaceful direct action and creative communication.
Donor Charter and Privacy
At Greenpeace, we highly respect donor privacy and adhere to our security policy to preserve donor information. We commit to send regular information and updates about the movement and its campaigns to our donors. Most of our campaign updates are sent through email, and some by mail. Occasionally, donors receive exclusive invites to Greenpeace events for a chance to meet other planet warriors who are also making a difference in protecting our environment.
You can read our Donor Charter here – it’s out promise to you.
You can read our Privacy Policy here – to understand how we may use any data we hold about our supporters.

A big THANK YOU to all Greenpeace supporters from the crew of the MY Esperanza, at the South Orkney Islands, Antarctica. In this photo, they are in Antarctica on the final leg of the Protect the Oceans voyage from the Arctic to the Antarctic. The almost year-long voyage highlighted the many threats facing the oceans while campaigning for a Global Ocean Treaty covering all seas outside of national waters.
We are honored that our work in pursuit of a green and peaceful future is funded almost entirely by donations from passionate individuals who care about the planet, and by grants from private foundations who share our values.
Support Greenpeace by giving a recurring gift every 4 weeks. Regular gifts allow us to plan more effectively over the longer term and reduce administrative costs, which means your donation goes further.
