It was the most important Walk Against Warming yet — smack bang in the middle of the UN climate summit in Copenhagen.

There was an amazing turnout in Australia’s capital cities, as well as some of the country’s regional and coastal centres like Bendigo and, of course, coal central, Newcastle.

Sydney was reported to have a turnout of 15,000 people, while 40,000 Melbournians took to their city streets. Wherever people walked in Australia, they all expressed one wish — a treaty for a safe climate.

Australians gave Kevin Rudd a mandate to take real action on climate change. Today was a reminder to the government to show the kind of leadership we asked for.

We’ll bring you more photos and footage in the next few days.
