Woodside Energy has just asked the government to approve its plans for Browse, a monstrous gas field off the coast of Broome. That means we have a short window of time before Tanya Plibersek, the federal environment minister, reviews the project.
Now is the time to empower our Members of Parliament and Senators to speak up on Woodside's dirty project.
Email your Labor or Independent MP or Senator now, to ask them to raise the issue with Plibersek and ask her to block Browse.
Woodside wants to drill for dirty gas off the coast of WA - threatening whales and our global climate.
Now is the time to empower our Members of Parliament and Senators to speak up on Woodside's dirty project.
Ask your MP to take a stand.
Don't have a Labor or Independent MP? That's okay – your email will still go to Labor and Independent Senators in your state or territory. So go ahead and send your message!

Tips for writing an impactful email
You can send our pre-filled message, or write your own.
Just remember these 3 things:
1. Keep it polite
We're asking our Members of Parliament and Senators to advocate for us. Woodside is the enemy, not our Members, so ask nicely and please keep it respectful.
2. Be clear
We need to let our Members know: Browse is a dangerous gas project, and Tanya Plibersek should not approve Woodside's plans for Browse.
3. Spell out the risks
Woodside's dirty Browse project would pollute until around 2070, and is at odds with Australia's climate ambition.
Woodside's dangerous Browse project must be stopped:
- Browse would produce 1.6 billion tonnes of climate pollution and operate until around 2070
- Browse is part of Woodside's dirty Burrup Hub gas project – which if approved would produce 6.1 billion tonnes of climate pollution
- Up to 50 wells would be drilled to extract gas from under Scott Reef – Australia's largest standalone offshore coral reef
- A bad spill at Browse could destroy corals and reach as far as Indonesian waters
- Drilling would put endangered sea turtles and Pygmy blue whales at risk
