Stop the attacks on renewables: Call your energy minister
NB: Due to a high volume of calls, there might be a delay of a few minutes before you receive your call from us. We're working to fix this issue. In the meantime, please be patient and be ready to pick up the phone when it rings.
We only have a few weeks to stop Turnbull's dirty power plan - the National Energy Guarantee. Can you make the call and ask your State Energy Minister to reject this dodgy deal?
Scroll down for a suggested script for what to say and fill out the form when you're ready to make your call.
Fill out your details below and we'll ring your phone to put you through to you Energy Minister's office.
You’ll be speaking to a member of their staff who will take a message on the Minister’s behalf. Feel free to follow the script, or make it your own. Just be sure to tell your State Energy Minister to reject the National Energy Guarantee, or NEG, when they meet in August.
What to expect when you call:
- You’ll be speaking to a staff member, rather than the politician. Ask to leave a message to be passed on to the politician.
- Be polite but firm! This is a make or break moment for renewable energy in Australia.
- Take notes and let us know how you go!
Suggested Call Script
Hi my name is [name] and I live in [town, State]. Can you take a message for the Energy Minister?
I am calling to ask the Energy Minister to reject the National Energy Guarantee.
I'm concerned about climate change. We urgently need to reduce our emissions and transition to 100% renewable energy, but the proposed National Energy Guarantee is woefully inadequate and will be worse for emissions than if we did nothing at all.
The NEG will lock in an emissions reduction target that is far too low and kill investment in renewable energy.
I want the Energy Minister to think about what kind of future they are creating for us when they meet with other Energy Ministers in August. We deserve better and I know that the Minister has the power to reject the National Energy Guarantee.
Can you confirm this message will be passed on to the Energy Minister?
