Greenpeace is committed to ensuring the privacy of your personal details. The following statement explains how we manage your personal information in accordance with privacy laws.

Collection of personal information

Generally, the type of information Greenpeace collects about you is the information included in your application or resume (e.g.your contact details, career history and information collected during the course of the interviewing process such as interview notes and assessment results).

There may be occasions when we obtain personal information about you from a third party; for example, from your nominated referee; when receiving the results of a competency test; or obtaining performance feedback about your work. If we don’t have your prior consent, we will take reasonable steps to inform you that we have collected personal information.

Use and disclosure of personal information

Personal information provided to Greenpeace by applicants will be used by Human Resources during the course of the recruitment and selection process. The information will often be distributed internally to the relevant manager and selection panel that is involved in the particular recruitment activity. The information will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not be distributed outside the organisation.

How long is the information kept?

Digital Information is stored online in our talent database on the Recruiterflow platform. 

Unsuccessful candidates for any given role will be given the opportunity to opt out of having their personal information stored on the talent database. In this case, all of your personal information will be deleted.

Information collected or noted during task, interview and reference check recruitment stages will be held and stored in a secure location in the HR department. This information will be kept for a period of 3 months, after which time it will be shredded.

Security of your personal information

Your personal information may be stored securely in hardcopy or electronically on the Recruiterflow platform. For more information on Recruiterflow, refer to their privacy policy and data security credentials. Personal information provided during the recruitment process will only ever be used by Greenpeace for recruitment purposes.

Gaining access to information we hold about you

Access to the personal information Greenpeace hold about you will be provided unless granting access would infringe another person’s privacy, or is not required under law. A written request for access to the personal information Greenpeace holds about you or in relation to an inquiry about privacy should be sent to [email protected]We will require you to verify your identity.

Correction to information held about you

If you believe that the information we hold about you is incorrect, or if you have concerns about how we are handling your personal information, then we ask that you contact us and we will try to resolve those concerns.

Updates to the policy

This policy will be reviewed from time to time to take account of new laws and technology, changes to our operations and practices and the changes to the business environment.
