If you check out the comments on the live feed from our action yesterday, you’ll see we’ve received overwhelming public support for locking down Australia’s most polluting coal-fired power station. Australians recognise the urgency of the situation and the window of opportunity that’s available to us in making a timely shift away from coal-fired power to thriving new renewable energy and energy efficiency industries. What we want now is to see some leadership from the Rudd Government!

We have to make sure that we hold Kevin Rudd accountable for his pre-election promise to take strong action on climate change. The decisions made in the next 6 months will determine the path that Australia takes in responding to this planetary crisis. Now is the time for ordinary Australians to join forces and refuse to let Kevin Rudd get away with avoiding the real issues.

If you’ve never taken to the streets before, now is the time to do it. The Rudd Government needs a strong, clear message from the people of Australia that we won’t stand for business as usual when our future is at stake. Next Thursday, the Camp for Climate Action is starting in Newcastle, bringing hundreds of people together to peacefully protest against the coal industry and interrupt the coal chain once more. Be a part of building a better future by joining in the mass community protest on Sunday 13th July. If you can’t be there, at least get in the ear of your federal MP. Standing up for what you believe in doesn’t require particular credentials or specialist skills: just a determination to make your voice heard.
