SYDNEY, Friday 8 March 2024 — The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has today officially confirmed that the World Heritage-listed wonder is undergoing a seventh mass coral bleaching event — the fifth in just eight years.
Our planet continues to warn us that we cannot continue on our current trajectory. And this year has proven to be no different. From the hottest month on record to what is looking like the hottest year. Moreover, there are some of the biggest environmental red flags of 2023 to remind us why the Great Barrier Reef (as well as many other species and natural environments) should be treated as "in danger".
SYDNEY, May 11 2022 - Damage to more than 90 percent of the Great Barrier Reef during the most recent mass bleaching event is another damning indictment of the Morrison Government, which has failed to protect the Reef and exacerbated the problem through its support of fossil fuels, says Greenpeace Australia Pacific.
