Here are a few things you can do to make a difference.
The NSW government plans to approve two massive new coal power stations. If built, they will spew over 20 million tonnes of greenhouse pollution into the atmosphere each year. A decision is imminent and we need to stop them going ahead. What you can do
World leaders walked away from the global summit in Copenhagen without a treaty that will save the climate. The US, EU and Australia put short-term national interests before the fate of our planet. Together, we must let leaders know that we expect nothing less than an effective agreement. Tell our leaders that failure is not an option
Before, during and after Copenhagen, we'll keep you updated with the latest developments and what you can do. One of our campaigners will be reporting from the meeting, in addition to commentary from our team in Australia. Sign up for email updates
Where does your energy retailer stand on coal? Some energy retailers have agreed not to buy energy from newly built coal-fired power stations. Many haven't. Use our consumer guide to see how your energy retailer rates and send an email asking them to help Australia transition away from coal. If you don't like their response, it's easy to take your business elsewhere. Find out where your energy retailer stands on coal
Use your power to make positive political change. We vote for and pay politicians. They represent us. Make sure they know what you want for your world. Contact your local MP by phone or post, or arrange a meeting to tell them you want strong action on climate change now. How to contact your local MP
When we all live a bit greener, it makes a huge difference! Use energy efficient light globes and swap your car for a bike. Even better, switch your home or business to 100% Green Power. Try to avoid products with lots of packaging and buy locally when possible. How you eat affects your health and the health of the planet. By planting a vegie patch (or joining a community garden) and reducing your meat intake you will have a positive impact on greenhouse gas emissions. How to live greener
And we're not talking Jane Fonda! There are plenty of ways you can get involved with Greenpeace's work. You can push the green cause on social and traditional media, join a local climate group, volunteer in our office or hold your own fundraising event for Greenpeace. Ways to get active
Speak up for our climate! When your voice is in the media, governments and decision makers hear it loud and clear. Write a letter to the editor – politicians and opinion makers read newspaper letters pages to gauge community opinion. Contact your radio station, and comment on forums and blogs (including the Greenpeace blog).
