If Children Knew The Facts About Climate Change

Here’s a poignant video from Moms Against Climate Change. “If our children knew the facts we do, they’d take action.”

The video says it all.

Poignant, yes, but we are all someone’s children.

Children believe, uncritically, what “authorities (parents or ex-vice presidents) tell them. It’s only when we grow up we see that these authorities have feet of clay.

A recent survey suggests that the the citizens of one of the world’s two biggest carbon emitters may have grown up.

“The number of Americans who believe in global warming has plummeted, falling 20% in two years, a survey said today.

Only 57% of Americans believe there is solid scientific evidence that the Earth’s atmosphere is warming, said the poll of 1,500 people by the Pew Research Centre for the People & the Press.

That is a fall of 77% from 2007. The number of people who believe that human activity is causing global warming also fell to just 36%.”

There are increasing signs that Copenhagen may fall flat despite all the doom and gloom we’ve been fed for the last twenty odd years. Perhaps that’s why the world’s children are becoming more skeptical. Too many exagerated predictions that have not come true. As every child is taught … crying wolf has a bad result .. if only Gore et al had been a little more rational and less hysterical more people might believe in their tale.

Our children do know the facts about climate change. Many are deeply distressed about it and worry about what the future holds. Rates of depression and anxiety in young people are at an all time high. This video is distressing, promotes violent (rather than peaceful) protest and is totally unconstructive. If our kids did take action, I hope it would be peaceful and intelligent, not running at a line of cops armed with batons. I’m just glad Greenepece did not produce this vid…

Kids are smart enough and will be able to handle it if you gave them a chance to see your side and to actully understand im sure they would. and im sure they would agee with you..
being a kid myself ( 14 years of age ) i would know all about this.

This doesn’t mean that climate change isn’t happening - it means that a lot of people have misunderstood; whether or not they know it, there is an overwhelming body of solid scientific evidence which shows that the climate is in fact changing. The science doesn’t need people to “believe in it” for these processes to take place.

Good on these Mums Against Climate Change.
