New Global Leader For A New Year: Kumi Naidoo

POSTED BY admin

A new year has sprung from the hope and ashes of 2009. It’s a perfect opportunity for us to introduce you to Kumi Naidoo – the new leader of Greenpeace internationally. Kumi is also the first African to take on the job as Executive Director of Greenpeace International.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Kumi spoke about his early days as an activist in South Africa campaigning against apartheid. He talks about his joy upon hearing news of Nelson Mandela’s release, and how that prompted him to return home from London and help prepare Mandela’s party for election.

Listen to the interview below.

How inspiring! I’ve never been so inspired by another human being before. If only more international leaders were like minded.

From one who grew up in ZA at the same time, but one the “right side” of the colour line…Mr Naidoo represents all that Madiba and a nation can hope for… the opportunity for change is always present…blessings and buon chance…

I thought that Greenpeace was a none political organisation.
Having Kumi Naidoo as Excecutive Director of Greenpeace International seems a political choice.
All I have read about him is that he opposed aparteid, which is political. What’s this got to do with saving whales, forrests, etc? If Greenpeace gets political I will seriously consider dropping my membership of Greenpeace,

May you lead Greenpeace with wisdom and intentions straight from your heart Dear Kumi!
There are many of us in the healing circles who would like to get involved with Greenpeace, will there be an office in Johannesburg?

    With blessings and kindness,
    George-Gabriel
